Last Week on The Phoneshow - 22nd February 2007

We've had a very busy week, as always, on the Phoneshow this past week. Topics ranged from texting while you drive to God Save The Queen at Croke Park.

Thursday 15th Feb: If we're to be honest most of us have done what this picture shows (right)...texting while we drive. We spoke to a caller who feels that people caught doing it should automatically face a driving ban. He claimed that it's even more dangerous than drink driving because you don't even have your eyes on the road while you're doing it. On the night we spoke to callers who brazenly admitted to doing it - and seeing no problem.

During the heated discussion many callers said these people who continue to flout the law and text should be arrested. Maybe we should put signs like this one around Ireland??

Monday 19th: Croke Park was the focus of attention again this week ahead of Saturday's 6 Nations clash between Ireland and England, after it was announced that Republican Sinn Féin are to hold a protest close to the ground to show their objection to the match being played in the home of GAA and in particular the playing of "God Save The Queen" in the ground.

The fear was expressed that the protest might be hijacked in the same was as a similar one was last year when the Orange Order planned their 'Love Ulster' Parade in the City Centre. Fingers crossed nothing will kick off this weekend.

Wenesday 22nd: Finally, do you drink Vodka & Red Bull. Well a leading medical expert has called for it to be banned in Ireland following a huge increase in the level of violent crime associated with consumption of the drink.

On the show many listeners agreed that the combonation is lethal and makes people behave in a much more agressive manner. We were very surprised with the volume of stories we received and the level of support for a ban.
