Christmas 2006 in Dublin

I was delighted to be asked by Dublin City Council to be the MC, for the second year, at the Festival of Light Ceremony on O'Connell St. on Sunday (26th November).

The 'switching on of the Christmas lights' was attended by thousands - and included St. Andrews Choir and the lively Gardiner Street Gospel Choir.

Hundreds of children took part in colourful parades from Smithfield, The Mansion House, City Hall and Sean McDermot St.

The Lights were offically switched on at 6pm by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr. Vincent Jackson.

This year the 60 foot O'Connell Street tree features specially designed Newbridge Silverware Stars, which will be auctioned for charity after Christmas.

I was delighted to meet this years Rose of Tralee Kathryn Feeney ftrom Queensland, Australia. She was there along with models Andrea Roche and Rosanna Davidson to add a bit of glamour to the ceremony.
